Another month, another blog hop! Time goes so quickly….
Anyway, the theme for this month’s Tech 4 Stampers Blog hop is embossing. Now I love embossing in all its many forms – dry embossing, inky embossing, and powders, but today I wanted to make a simple but effective card using one of the gorgeous new Basic Embossing Folders which are available from the online exclusives collection. I also used the Bright and Beautiful suite of products.
To make this card you need:
- Basic White card base 21cm x 14.8cm scored in half at 10.5cm
- Basic White mat 14.3cm x 10cm
- Lemon Lime Twist card mat 14.3cm x 10cm for the inside of your card (or any colour you chose) – not pictured
- Basic White layer 13.8cm x 9.5cm for the inside of the card – not pictured
- Strip of DSP 1st colour (plainish): 5cm x 13.8cm
- Strip of DSP 2nd colour (patterned) 4.6cm x 13.4cm
- Basic White envelope – not pictured
- Go To Greetings stamp set or use any other sentiment set you wish
- Beautiful Balloons stamp set (or other set of your choice)
- Basics Embossing Folders (I used the hatched one)
- Memento ink plus coloured ink pads of your choice – I used Lemon Lolly, Lemon Lime Twist and Fresh Freesia.
Method
- Stick the smaller DSP 2nd colour piece to the larger DSP 1st colour piece. (You could use cardstock as the underneath layer if you want.)
- Stick this combined piece to the left-hand side of your Basic White mat.
- Stamp your sentiment on the right-hand side of this mat layer. I used the medium-size Happy Birthday stamp from the Go to Greetings stamp set as follows.
- I stamped half the greeting at a time by covering the word I did not want to stamp with a sticky note as shown in the picture. Ink the stamp then remove the sticky note before stamping on your card. Clean your stamp and dry well then repeat the process for the second word.
- Run this whole mat piece through your Cut ‘n’ Emboss machine using whichever Basic Embossing Folder you wish. I used the hatched embossing folder in this card.
- Add the piece to your card front using dimensionals.
- For the inside of your card, stick your coloured mat to your card base.
- Stamp your chosen sentiment in Memento ink on the Basic White mat – I used one from the Charming Sentiments stamp set. If using the Beautiful Balloons stamp set, add balloons as shown in Lemon Lolly, Lemon Lime Twist and Fresh Freesia. Add balloon strings in Memento. Or use any chosen stamp set you wish.
- Stick the mat to your Lemon Lime Twist layer.
- Decorate your envelope with three coloured balloons (or other chosen image) as shown in the main picture.
I hope you enjoyed my card and that you will have a go at embossing DSP strips. It’s great fun!
