Where does time go? Another month has gone by and its time for another blog hop. This month the theme is Cards for Men. I think many of us struggle with thinking of ideas for cards for men. My “go to” for male cards is usually either DSP panels, embossed cards with a large greeting, or a sailing boat, with blue as the base colour.
I tried something different today and I’m pleased with the finished card. I was lucky enough to win the Wildlife Wonder stamp set in my upline’s raffle and it is a great set for making male cards.
Measurements:
My card uses the Wildlife Wonder stamp set (or similar set of your choice) and the Tasteful Textile embossing folder (or similar folder of your choice). The other bits you need are:
So Saffron:
- Card base 14.8cm x 21cm, scored at 10.5cm
- One piece 7.8cm x 9.8cm
- Scrap for the sentiment approx 2cm x 8.5cm
Soft suede:
- One piece 14.3cm x 10cm
- One piece 7.4cm x 9.4cm
Basic White piece 7cm x 9cm
Soft suede ink pad
Crumb Cake ink pad
Blending brush
Instructions
Fold card base and burnish.
Emboss the large piece of Soft Suede with the Tasteful Textile embossing folder.
Adhere to the front of your card base.
Stamp your bear (or other) image in Soft Suede onto the Basic White panel. This is one of the gorgeous Inkstinktive stamps which has all that lovely texture as part of the stamp.
Using your blending brush, gently add some Crumb Cake to the edges of the panel as shown in the picture. Remember to start off your card to avoid streaks and blotches of colour. Less is more with blending!
Adhere your image flat to the smaller Soft Suede panel and then to the So Saffron panel. Adhere to your card using dimensionals.
Stamp your sentiment onto the small scrap of So Saffron.
You can either leave it as a strip or do what I did – fussy cut around the letters.
I used multipurpose liquid glue on the top of the strip and adhered it level to the bottom of the panels.
And don’t forget to decorate the inside of your card and your envelope! I used the owl image and another sentiment from the Wildlife Wonder set.
I hope this post has given you some ideas for male cards.
Finally, here are two more ideas for using this lovely stamp set, this time using the fox stamp.
