This month’s Build & Bloom Stampers blog hop theme is For Kids.

I used the Balloon Festoon bundle to make this For Kids card. I’m struggling with my tendonitis at the moment and am having to wear a brace, so it had to be a plain card! I really wanted to make one of the balloons lift up to show a secret message, but that will have to wait for another time. The otter and his hat are from a retired SAB set, but you could use any cute animal or image you wanted.

To make this card for kids you will need:

  • Golden Glow cardstock base 21cm x 14.8cm scored at 10.5cm (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”)
  • Basic White layer for front
  • Basic White layer for inside
  • Pieces of 2026-2028 In Color Painted Patterns DSP for die-cutting
  • Scraps of cardstock for image and sentiment
  • Petal Pink and Pecan Pie ink pads
  • Blends for colouring if required
  • Length of twine

Fold and burnish the card base.

Die cut five balloons of different sizes and different colours/patterns. I initially used the five new In Colors as shown above, but the Barely Blush was too pale, so I die-cut a second one in my base card Golden Glow colour.

Stamp the image you want plus any additional pieces (I stamped and coloured a hat for my otter!)

Stamp your sentiment onto some Barely Blush cardstock with Pecan Pie ink.

Decorate the front Basic White layer by stamping the confetti stamp in Petal Pink randomly across the card piece.

Stamp your inside greeting in Pecan Pie and decorate as you wish. (I used the stars stamp and Golden Glow ink.)

Stick the balloons in decreasing order of size on the front of your Basic White stamped layer, ensuring the ends fit together.

Add your image with dimensionals.

Tie a bow in twine and stick to the balloon assortment using glue dots. I also stuck one end to my otter’s paw to make him “hold” the balloons.

Adhere the inside panel inside your card. This sentiment is from the retired Awesome Otters stamp set.

Finish this card for kids by decorating your envelope. I used the star stamp from the bundle. I also added some shimmer brush highlights on the dots on the three top balloons, but Wink of Stella would work too.

Now go ahead and check out the other fabulous for kids cards my fellow blog hoppers have made.

I hope you like this card and will have a go at making one – please show me what you come up with.
