How to make a gift card card

This gift card card uses an idea from the recent online Stampin’ Up! demonstrator class, Creativity Now. This card has a three-way opening card on the front with a pouch to contain a gift card, and it also opens like an ordinary card to provide plenty of room for writing a message.

This project provides a sneak peek of the Notes of Collage bundle and Painted Collage DSP which will be online exclusive products available to customers in November. I used Pecan Pie and Golden Glow cardstock for this card.

We made a similar gift card card at my Craftalong today. For that card I used the Delicate Wishes bundle and Delicate Dreams DSP with Night of Navy and Hydrangea Hue cardstock.

To make this gift card card you will need:

• Colour card base 21cm x 14.8cm scored at 10.5cm (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”)
• Coordinating colour cardstock piece 24cm x 10.5cm (9″ x 4″)
• DSP of your choice x 4: 7.5cm x 10cm (2¾” x 3¾”)
• DSP small piece 6.5cm x 9.5cm (2½” x 3¼”)
• Basic White panel 7.5cm x 10cm (2¾” x 3¾”)
• Basic White inside panel 9.5cm x 13.8cm (3¾” x 5”)
• Scraps for sentiment, and any stamping and die-cutting
• Embellishments if you wish

Fold and burnish the card base.

If you wish, add some decoration to the front. Here, I used a die from the Notes of Collage bundle to outline around my gift card holder. (In the Craftalong I used some background stamping to decorate the front of my card.)

Stamp a sentiment and any decoration you wish on the Basic White inside panel then adhere it inside the card base.

Score the coordinating cardstock piece at 8cm and 16cm (3″ and 6″). Trim a sliver off the right-hand side, then fold this inwards across the centre. Fold the left-hand panel across and burnish well.

Glue the DSP panels to the front, inside front, inside back and back of this tri-fold piece.

Cut the top of the DSP small piece diagonally from the top left-hand corner at a shallow angle – see the video if you are unsure.

Score at 1cm (½”) on both sides of this piece. Fold back and burnish.

Glue the tabs around the Basic White panel, also adding a thin line og glue along the bottom, so it forms a pouch in which you can slot a gift card. Attach the completed piece to the centre inside of your tri-fold card.

Glue the completed tri-fold card to the front of your main card base.

Decorate your card as you wish. I used some die-cuts on this card and some stamped and die-cut pieces for my Craftalong card.

Stamp a sentiment on a scrap of cardstock and add to the front of your card.

To make a tab to hold the tri-fold card closed, cut a rectangle piece approximately 5cm x 2cm (2″ x ½”). Fold it in half and attach it to the lower part of the front tri-fold.

Add a strip of liquid glue to the back of this piece – see the video if you are unsure. Allow it to dry. It then becomes tacky and will stick the tri-fold card closed, but it can easily be opened. A nice trick to know!
