Huge thanks to our lovely UK & Ireland Demonstrator Support manager Helen Simms for this card idea. We made it at our monthly Craft and Chatter get together and I wanted to share it with you.

I’ve called it a Rustic Trellis card as the cross pieces are placed randomly and I think the background looks like a rustic farm gate. I’ve used the Enduring Beauty image as it works very well, but you could use any large stamped image. You could make this with any colour combination, too.

You will need:

  • Base cardstock 10.5cm x 29.6cm (4 ¼” x 11”) scored in half at 14.8cm (5 ½”)
  • Three pieces same colour cardstock each approx. 2cm x 10cm (¾” x 4”)
  • Large scrap piece of Basic White at least 12cm x 10cm (4 ¾” x 4”) or the size you need to stamp your image
  • Scrap of Basic White for sentiment
  • Stampin Blends in your chosen colours
  • Basic gems for decoration.

Here is the video of how to make the card, or if you prefer, full instructions are given below.

Instructions

Cut one half of the base cardstock from the edge to the centre fold as follows:

  • Cut at 1cm and 3cm (3/8” and 1 1/8”) on each side
  • Cut ½” on each side of the remaining centre strip
  • Cut off the four smaller strips at the card centre fold.

Your card should look like the picture:

Trellis card cutting

Place the three cross strips randomly across the vertical strips as shown and stick down, being careful only to place glue where the strips cross.

Stamp the Enduring Beauty image in Memento on your large Basic White piece. Stamp your chosen sentiment on the scrap of Basic White.

Colour the image using Stampin Blends. I used Berry Burst for the petal edges, Fresh Freesia for the main flower colour and Bubble Bath for the flower centres. For the lease, I used Granny Apple Green.

Die cut the image and stick to the front of your card, again being careful only to add glue where the image is over the strips. If you wish, die cut another image shape in your base cardstock colour to stick on the reverse of the card front to cover your colouring.

Die-cut your sentiment and add using dimensionals. Add gems to finish.

I hope you like this card and will have a go at making one – please show me what you come up with.
