Here are some simple but wow cards made using a blending technique and the lovely Dragonfly bundle
I used Basic White card bases and a choice of three inks plus some basic stamping. See the instructional video for more help
Measurements
These measurements apply to all the cards.
- Basic White card 21cm x 14.8cm, score in half 10.5cm
- Three inks of your choice
- Scrap or photocopier paper
- Low tack tape
Line your base card up on your work surface – it’s helpful to use grid paper beneath your card to help you line up straight.
Place a piece of copier paper either side of the area you want to colour and stick down with low tack tape
Ink up your first colour by gently rubbing the blending brush across the ink pad. Dab off once the use a gentle circular motion to add the ink to the card to cover approximately the top third of the space or wherever you want that colour. Repeat until you get the depth of colour you want. Then add your next colour in the same way and finish with your final colour. Of course, you can have as many colours as you want!
Clean your blending brushes by hand in warm water and leave out to dry for at least 24 hours before using again.
Stamp whatever decoration you want in whatever colour is best. Add a focal point such as the dragonfly (which I coloured with Stampin Bends and then Wink of Stella) and add a stamped sentiment and there you are. A simple but effective card.
Measurements
- Base card 21cm x 14.8cm, scored in half at 10.5cm
- Template cut from a piece of card os same size as your card front
- Blending brushes
- Ink pads of your choice
These cards are made using the same technique as above, but this time using a shaped template.
Create your template using your choice of shape using dies or a punch. Stick the template over your base card` so that the hole lines up with where you want the colour. Add two or three colours as you want using the same technique as described in the first cards.
To form the horizon on the Sailing Home card, use a piece of copy paper and stick it horizontally across your template and card. Colour the sky section, then turn the paper round to colour the lower sea section in a different colour (or two). Then add your stamped images and sentiment.
