Here is a simple Easter Egg sandwich box to hold a small Easter Egg. It uses just one strip of DSP and a small square of cardstock plus a small length of ribbon and some scrap cardstock for decoration.

I’ve seen a few versions of this Easter Egg box on YouTube and Pinterest that fit Creme Eggs, but I’m giving Lindt eggs this year and they are a little larger than Creme Eggs, so I changed the size a little. Obviously, they will fit any other similar small gift!

To make this box you need:

  • Strip of DSP 27cm x 6.5cm (10″ x 2 1/2″)
  • Square of coordinating cardstock 8.5cm x 8.5cm (3 1/8″ x 3 1/8″)
  • Approx 5-6″ of ribbon
  • Scraps of Basic White for decoration
  • Paper trimmer

Take your square of cardstock and score on all four sides at 1cm.

Place the cardstock with two opposite diagonal corners lined up with the trimmer track and cut in half.

Fold the sides in and trim off the extra at each side.

Cut a small tab into the corner square.

Add a small dab of glue onto the tab and adhere, being careful to line up the corner well.

Now take your strip of DSP. (NB If this has a directional pattern, make sure it lies with the pattern facing up to the RIGHT.)

Score on the long side at 2.5cm, 9cm, 15.5cm and 24.5cm (1″, 3 3/8″, 5 3/4″ and 9″)

Score on the short side at 1.5cm (5/8″) on both sides.

On the largest panel, make a diagonal cut at an oblique angle at both the top and the bottom to the score lines above and below. Trim off the remaining edge pieces – see the picture or the video below if you are unsure.

Add the side pieces in by placing a line of glue along the edge. Take care to line up exactly with the sides and the corner.

Repeat on the second side.

To finish, use a hole punch to punch a hole through both top pieces.

Place your egg in the box, close then tie together using a 5-6″ piece of ribbon slotted through the top.

Your Easter Egg box is complete!
