Today on my Craft with Carol Live I showed you how to make two simple embossed cards using the gorgeous Layers of Beauty stamp set. The large image is easy to use with embossing powders to make simple but stunning cards.
I used Blueberry Bushel and Basic White with two different embossing powders and simply reversed the colours to make the second card. The sentiments were from the So Sincere stamp set. The measurements you need are:
- Base card 21cm x 14.8cm scored at 10.5cm (8 ½” x 5 ½” scored at 4 ¼”)
- Layer 10cm x 14.3cm (4” x 5 ¼”) – you need two of these to make card 2
- Scrap of cardstock for the sentiment
Here is the first card I made:
For this card, I used a Basic White card base with a Blueberry Bushel layer. Note: Any dark colour card can be used to make this card.
First, I rubbed the Blueberry Bushel layer with my embossing buddy to remove any grease marks. Then I stamped the large Layers of Beauty stamp in Versamark on the layer, then covered it with white embossing powder.
I used my heat gun to set the embossing powder and celebrated with joy watching it melt! I then stuck this layer to the front of my card base.
I stamped the sentiment in Blueberry Bushel ink onto a scrap of Basic White then trimmed one end into a banner before sticking it onto the card front. I finished the card with a few iridescent basic gems.
I stamped a sentiment inside using Blueberry Bushel ink and added the small flower image from the stamp set, which I also used to stamp on my envelope.
Here is the second card I made:
This time I used a Blueberry Bushel card base with a Basic White layer. I rubbed the Basic White layer with my embossing buddy to remove any grease marks. Then I stamped the large Layers of Beauty stamp in Versamark on the layer, then covered it with silver embossing powder.
I used my heat gun to set the embossing powder and celebrated with joy watching it melt! I then stuck this layer to the front of my card base.
I stamped the sentiment in Versamark ink onto a scrap of Blueberry Bushel card and embossed it with white embossing powder. I trimmed one end into a banner before sticking it onto the card front. I finished the card with a few (retired) blue glitter gems.
I cut a second Basic White layer for the inside of the card and stamped a sentiment using Blueberry Bushel ink. I added the small flower image from the stamp set, which I also used to stamp on my envelope.
