In my Live today, I made a simple heat embossed card using the lovely Sketched Butterfly stamp set. I’ve just used simple stamping for a change instead of using all sorts of other tools!

(Don’t forget – if you buy the Sketched Butterfly bundle, or the Sketched Butterfly stamp set and the Unbounded Love dies you will earn a £4.50 bonus coupon this month to spend in August!)

Adding a heat embossed image to a card gives you an instant wow factor. I love using heat embossing particularly with detailed stamps as it will pick up all the gorgeous minute detail from the stamp. Here’s a close up of the embossed detail on the card.

You can watch the video below or read on for the measurements and instructions.

You will need:

  • Wild Wheat Card base 21cm x 14.8cm (8 ½” x 5 ½”)
  • Copper Clay layer 9.5cm x 13.8cm (3 ¾” x 5”)
  • Basic White inside layer 9.5cm x 13.8cm (3 ¾” x 5”)
  • Wild Wheat (or Basic White) panel for sentiment 6.5cm x 4.5cm (2 ½” x 1 ¾”)
  • Gold metallic embossing powder
  • Versamark ink pad
  • Heat tool
  • Unbounded Love dies
  • Wild Wheat ink pad

Score your card base on the long side at 10.5cm (4 ¼”), fold and burnish. This card is made using this base in landscape format.

Wipe your Copper Clay panel using an embossing buddy – this is vital to stop any embossing powder form settling where you don’t want it.

Stamp each butterfly in turn using Versamark ink and add the gold embossing powder on top.

Use your heat tool to set the embossing powder. I will never tire of seeing embossing powder melt and glow!

Rub your embossing buddy over the small Wild Wheat panel. Stamp your chosen sentiment with Versamark ink and add the gold embossing powder. Heat set as before.

Die-cut this prepared sentiment using an Unbounded Love die of your choice.

Stick the embossed panel to the front of your card base. Add the sentiment panel on top using dimensionals.

Stamp the small butterfly in Wild Wheat in the bottom corner of your inside Basic White panel. Add a sentiment inside if you wish.

Don’t forget to decorate your envelope!

Here is the video of how I made the card:
