Today I’m showing you how to make a simple stamped birthday card using the beautiful Notes of Nature stamp set. I’ve also used the Notes of Nature dies but if you don’t have them I’ve suggested an alternative below. The bundle costs £45 – don’t forget that you earn FREE stuff for each £45 you spend this month AND you’ll receive my February tutorial bundle with instructions for ELEVEN cards.

To make the card you need:

  • Base cardstock 1: 21cm x 14.8cm (8 1/2″ x 5 3/4″)
  • Bubble Bath cardstock 2cm x 14.8cm (1/2″ x 5 3/4″) – 1 or 2 pieces
  • Basic White scrap for sentiment
  • Bubble Bath ink pad
  • Soft Sea Foam ink pad
  • Gray Granite ink pad
  • Notes of Nature stamp set and dies (optional)

You can see how I made the card in the video below. Instructions are under the video.

Score the base cardstock at 10.5cm (4 1/4″), fold and burnish.

Place the long intermittent hole die down the left-hand side of the card base and run through the Cut’n’Emboss machine to form the pattern down the left-hand side. Stick the piece of Bubble Bath cardstock inside the card front behind the holes. (Alternatively, if you don’t have the dies you could stick a piece of Bubble Bath cardstock, embossed if you want, on the outside of your card to decorate the left-hand side. Or leave it and just create s simple stamped card. Your choice!)

If you want, stick a second piece of Bubble Bath cardstock to the right-hand side of the inside of the card to match – this is optional but I thought it looked better!

To make the background, use the splatter stamp and Grey Granite ink using the stamping off technique: ink your stamp then stamp it onto a piece of scrap paper before stamping on your card front. Cover around 2/5 of the card as shown.

Stamp the leaves in Soft Sea Foam at the top left and bottom right of this splatter stamped section. Then stamp the flower cluster in Bubble Bath at the top right and bottom left.

Stamp the Thanks For Making Me Smile sentiment inside the card in Grey Granite. Stamp one flower cluster and one set of leaves using Bubble Bath and Soft Sea Foam to the bottom right-hand corner inside the card as shown below. I also used these stamps to decorate the envelope.

Simple stamped card inner

Stamp your birthday sentiment in Memento on the scrap of Basic White. Form a flag at the end as shown in the picture and video. Add this across the stamped area, as shown in the main picture and in the video, using dimensionals.

Sometimes simple stamped cards are best. What do you think? You can make this style of card for any occasion, not just birthdays.

Don’t forget to decorate your envelope and send your masterpiece to a lucky recipient.
