This is the first of two blog posts using the lovely By My Side stamp set – this one shows you how to make three cards. The cute cartoon images and fabulous range of sentiments in this stamp set mean it’s a great set for all occasions. I also wanted to showcase the lovely Basics 3D embossing folders, one of the online exclusives products, and the Stylish Shapes dies, so useful for so many different cards.
Eagle-eyed readers will see I also used a favourite retiring set, Glad We’re Friends – it was still current at the Craftalong where I made the cards!
These three cards use a basic layout which you could adapt to use other stamp sets or embossing folders you might have. You can find the dimensions and measurements below for each card. Each card uses the normal card base.

Card 1:
- Card base: Blueberry Bushel 14.8cm x 21cm, scored at 10.5cm
- Basic White panels x2: 10cm x 14.3cm
- Boho Blue panel 5cm x 13.8cm
- Basic White die cut 7.5cm stitched circle plus scraps for sentiment
Emboss one Basic White panel with the cross-hatch Basic 3D embossing folder.
Emboss the Boho Blue panel with the flower pattern Basic 3D embossing folder. Adhere these to your card front.
Stamp a chosen sentiment in Memento ink on the other Basic White panel and stick inside your card.
Stamp your image onto your stitched circle die cut and colour using your chosen Stampin Blends. Add to the card using dimensionals.
Stamp your chosen sentiment onto a scrap of Basic White, punch or trim and add to your card with dimensionals. Add a bow or gems to finish.
Card 2:
- Card base: Fresh Freesia 14.8cm x 21cm, scored at 10.5cm
- Basic White large panels x2: 10cm x 14.3cm
- Berry Burst panel 4cm x 13.8cm
- Fresh Freesia layer 9cm x 8cm
- Basic White small panel 8.3cm x 7.3cm
This card uses the Glad We’re Friends stamp set, but you can use the boy and dog image from the By Your Side set instead.
Choose a sentiment and stamp in Fresh Freesia either repeatedly down the right-hand side of one Basic White large panel or just in the bottom right-hand corner – your choice!
Emboss the Berry Burst panel with the cross-hatch Basic 3D embossing folder.
Stick these two panels to the card front as shown.
Stamp a sentiment on the other Basic White panel for the inside of the card.
Stamp your chosen image onto the small Basic White panel and colour with Stampin Blends. Stick this to the Fresh Freesia panel and add to your card with dimensionals, Add a few gems to finish.
Card 3:
- Card base: Basic White 14.8cm x 21cm, scored at 10.5cm
- Crumb Cake panel: 10cm x 14.3cm
- Basic White die cut 7.5cm stitched circle
- Basic White scrap for sentiment
This card also uses the Glad We’re Friends stamp set, but you can use an image from the By Your Side set instead.
Emboss the Crumb cake panel using the Basics 3D dots embossing folder and stick to the front of your card. Note: Heavily embossed cardstock sometimes needs more multipurpose glue than a non-embossed panel.
Stamp your image(s) on the stitched circle diet and colour using Stampi; Blends. Add the completed circle to your card using dimensionals.
Stamp your sentiment onto a scrap of Basic White card and add using dimensionals. Add gems to finish.
