We made this card in my FREE Craftalong today. You will often see a simple easel card as a fun fold card, but this one os a bit different as it is a vertical easel card with an inside panel. I saw this made by an American demonstrator, Glenda Mollett, and I have adapted it for our UK sizes.
I’ve used the gorgeous Floral Delight DSP together with the Everyday Arches and Labelled with Love bundles. I also used the Regal Flora bundle together with a retired punch for my decorative flowers. For the first card I made, pictured and described below, I used Very Vanilla, but I used Basic White for the card made at my Craftalong.
Why not join me on the first Thursday of each month at 11am via Zoom for my free Craftalong? All the details are in the previous week’s email, so sign up below if you are not yet on my email list. I’d love to see you.
Here is a close up of the card:

I’ve included all the instructions for how to make this vertical easel card here. The centimetre measurements are for UK cardstock and the US size measurements are given in the brackets. Make sure when you cut the DSP if it is directional, to have the pattern running vertically.
You will need:
- Old Olive card base: 10.5cm x 29.6cm (4¼” x 11”)
- Old Olive small card: 9cm x 21cm (3½” x 8½“ )
- Two Very Vanilla panels: 8.5cm x 10cm (3¼” x 4”)
- Floral Delight DSP: 14.3cm x 10cm (5¼” x 4”)
- Floral Delight DSP: 8.5cm x 10cm (3¼” x 4”)
- Floral Delight DSP: 6.9cm x 10cm (2½” x 4”)
- Scraps of Very Vanilla and Peach Pie both approx 4cm x 4cm (1¾” x 1¾”) for sentiment and backing
- Scrap of Lemon Lolly for flowers
- Peach Pie and Old Olive ink pads
Score the easel card base on the long side at 7.4cm and 14.8cm (2¾” and 5½”). Fold and burnish as mountain then valley fold.
Stick the largest piece of DSP to the back of your easel card base.
Stick the smallest DSP piece to the front of the bottom flap of the easel card base.
Score the small card in half on the long side at 10.5cm (4¼”), fold and burnish.
Making sure the fold is at the top, adhere the final medium size DSP piece to the front of this card.
If you wish to stamp a sentiment or decoration on the inside Very Vanilla panel, do so before sticking this panel inside the small card.
Then stick the completed small card to the card base, placing it slightly above the centre of the main card base panel as shown, approximately 1cm down from the top of the card:

Die-cut the 4th sized arch die from the second Very Vanilla panel. Stamp the You Are a Ray of Sunshine in Peach Pie around the top. Adhere this to the front of the small card.
Stamp the leaf sprig from Regal Flora in Old Olive ink and die or fussy cut out. Add to the front of your small card. Stamp and cut out or punch several small flowers in Lemon Lolly (I used a retired punch) – I punched out seven. Add five to the front of the small card, keeping two for the easel holder.
Stamp Happy Birthday or a sentiment of your choice on the Very Vanilla scrap – I used the sentiment from Labelled with Love. Punch out using the Labelled with Love punch.
Punch out a second piece from Peach Pie cardstock. Cut this in half, then stick behind the Very Vanilla sentiment as shown in the first picture to form the easel holder. Add the final two flowers either side.
Add two or three dimensionals to the back of the easel card holder.
To add the easel holder in the right place, stand your card up with the front flap of the small card overlapping the bottom of the main card and place your easel holder to hold this in the correct place. It will need to go around 1.5cm (½”) down from the top of the front panel. The picture below shows how this vertical easel card should look from the side:

Add some gems to the flower centres and don’t forget to decorate your envelope!
Here is the one we made at the Craftalong as well, using a different sheet of DSP and Basic White:
