It’s Week 12 of my 12 weeks of Christmas Countdown! As a bumper bonus, there are TWO projects today.
I promised one lovely customer I would make a hot drink sachet treat holder this final Christmas Countdown week. But I also wanted to show you how to make Christmas crackers, so I did both! And as a Christmas present from me, there are two FREE pdfs available in my online store, one for each project.
The details for each project are given below and the video containing both projects (and a look at the Perpetual Calendar kit!) can be found at the end of this post.
HOT DRINK SACHET TREAT HOLDER
You will need:
- DSP measuring 14cm across and 17.5cm long (5½“ x 7”)
- Scrap of cardstock for sentiment
- Small piece of ribbon for bow or twist decoration
Score the SHORT side of the DSP at 5cm, 6.5cm, 11.5cm and 13cm (2”, 2¾“, 4¾“ and 5”)
Score the LONG side at 1.5cm (¾”) from the bottom end using the right-hand side of your trimmer.
Mark each side of the middle 5cm (2”) panel at 3cm (1½”) from the top. If you wish, add a score or light pencil line between these marks.
Cut from the 5cm (2”) score line down and across to your first mark on the adjacent panel, across the centre 5cm (2”) panel and up to the top of the 11.5cm (4¾“) score line, as shown in the diagram below. Trim the bottom and side tabs as shown.
Add tape to the side tab and adhere inside the back panel.
Fold over the back bottom tab, then the side tabs and stick down the front tab to form the base, making sure it is square at the corners.
Add a bow or twisted ribbon piece as decoration, sticking down with a glue dot or tear & tape.
Stamp a small greeting in coordinating ink and die-cut or trim. Add to the front using dimensionals.Add your hot treat sachet and give to a lucky recipient

All the crackers are made in the same way.
Fold and burnish the score lines on the LONG side as mountain, valley, mountain, mountain, valley, and mountain.
Fold and burnish the score lines on the SHORT side as all mountain.
With the long side horizontal, fold the first fold over on itself and cut out a triangle shape through the double layer of card with the point on the centre fold line. Repeat for every other fold. Also cut out the end on the top and the bottom in a similar way, cutting straight along the tab sides.
It should look like this:
Wrap your DSP piece around the cracker, gently folding on each crease line. Lightly burnish once you are happy it fits. Stick down.
Add tear & tape to each tab and adhere the cracker together.
Push each end in to form the cracker shape. Fill with your choice of gift then tie a length of ribbon around each end.
Stamp a sentiment in coordinating ink and die-cut or trim. Add to the cracker using dimensionals.
