It’s blog hop time again! The months go by so quickly. This month’s theme is Colour Combo and we were asked to create a card using the current In Colors. I had already planned a colour combo card for my Live today, so this was very opportune!

T4S blog hop

I love the new In Colors and they go so well together in almost every combination. I decided to use Peach Pie, Petunia Pop and Shy Shamrock for this card.

You will need:

  • Shy Shamrock cardstock 21cm x 14.8cm (8 ½” x 5 ½”)
  • Basic White card x 2: 9.5cm x 13.8cm (3 ¾” x 5”)
  • Thoughtful Expressions stamp set
  • Peach Pie, Petunia Pop, Shy Shamrock and Memento ink pads
  • Peach Pie, Petunia Pop, Shy Shamrock Stampin Write markers
  • A 3″ (approx) circle die or punch
  • Scrap card approx 11cm x 15cm

Score the Shy Shamrock cardstock in half at 10.5cm (4 ¼”), fold and burnish.

Die-cut or punch a 3″ circle from the scrap card to form a mask.

Use temporary adhesive to stick one of the Basic White cards to your desk, then place your mask on top, securing with low tack tape so that the cut out circle is over the top half of your cardstock.

Rub your first blending brush over your Peach Pie ink pad. Gently blend a strip of Peach Pie in the upper third of your circle.

Use your second bending brush to pick up Petunia Pop ink in thee same way. Add this across the centre of your circle, blending into your Peach Pie “sky”.

Your third bending brush is for Shy Shamrock, Add this across the lower third of your card, blending into the Petunia Pop layer.

Once you are happy with your depth of colour, gently remove the mask.

Stamp the Thoughtful Expressions bird and the flower stem across the colour combo using Memento ink. I coloured in the lower flowers using the Peach Pie Stampin Write marker, but you might not want to.

Stamp your sentiment in Memento ink onto the lower right hand corner of the card.

I also decorated the inside of the card and the envelope using the flower stem stamp coloured with Stampin Write markers as shown below.

I made a similar card using a different colour combination and the Loveliest Tree stamp set in my Craft with Carol LIVE (every Tuesday at 2pm on YouTube and Facebook) – you can find the video below:
