I love a crisp winter’s day with the sun sparkling off the snow. So on learning that the topic for the November Tech 4 Stampers blog hop was Wonderful Winter, I immediately thought of snowflakes. As this post is published I will be in Vienna meeting up with others from our Tech 4 Stampers group at Stampin’ Up!s On Stage Live – I can’t wait! After the last three years, it will be marvellous to meet up with my friends and fellow crafters again.
For this blog hop I wanted to use the Picture This dies (because I bought them a while ago but had not yet used them) and team them up with some glimmer paper snowflakes and my favourite winter colours of Night of Navy and Basic White.
Once I had cut out the Picture This circle die from my Night of Navy cardstock I realised I could make two cards instead of just one! The snowflake die from the Celebration Tags sets fits perfectly into the larger circles in the Picture This die and the two smaller mistletoe dies fit into the smaller circles.
Instructions
For the first card I used a Night of Navy base 21cm x 14.8cm scored and folded at 10.5cm. The second card uses a Basic White base of the same size. The Night of Navy panel for card one and inside Basic White layers for both cards are 13.8cm x 9.5cm. The second card also has a Night of Navy inner layer 14.3cm x 10cm.
I cut out six white glimmer paper snowflakes from the Celebration Tags Die set and three each of the smaller mistletoe and leaf dies from the Mistletoe magic bundle.
I added some iridescent trim around the outside of the card, sticking it down with tear’n’tape as shown in the picture.
I used the Picture This circle die to cut out the circles from the top Night of Navy layer, then used this as a template to stick the snowflakes and smaller die cuts to the base card.
I rounded the corners of the top Night of Navy. layer so it fitted inside the trim, then used plenty of dimensionals to stick it to the base card.
I stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy on a scrap of Basic White then cut it out using the centre rectangle of the Picture This die. I stuck it down with multipurpose liquid glue as I didn’t want any further depth to the card – you have to think about postage costs these days!
For the second card, I stuck the glimmer paper die cuts to the cut out circles. I stamped the sentiment as before and cut chevroned ends before sticking it to a a 9.5cm x 3cm strip of Night of Navy. I stuck it to the centre of the Basic White base card then added the decorated circles around it using dimensionals for all. I considered adding a Night of Navy layer to provide a frame but it made the circles too squashed together in my view, so I left the front as shown.
I stamped the Basic Whtie insides of the cards with a Mistletoe magic sentiment and added some mistletoe branches for decoration. For the Basic White card I added a Night of Navy layer as shown.
I hope you like my two-for-one cards! Please follow the links below to see the wonderful creations from my Tech 4 Stampers colleagues.
