Sometimes it’s easy to miss things in our catalogues. I missed the Patchwork Pieces dies when I first looked through the catalogue, however I saw them last month and decided to get them. Sadly, these dies are going to be retired (typical!) so I thought I’d quickly do a video and post about them, as it is so easy to make some simple cards using these lovely dies. They will be on offer at 10% off from 9th to 30th April so don’t miss out.
There are two dies that cut different patterns which both fit together like patchwork. You could use cardstock or DSP to cut out the patterns. Here I’ve used DSP and you can cut two pieces at the same time, which saves you time and means you can make two cards for on die cut run!
Watch the video below to see how to put together the wavy dies. Under the video I give you more detailed instructions for the symmetrical patchwork die.
To make these cards you need:
- Basic White Card base (x2): 21cm x 14.8cm scored in half at 10.5cm (8 ½” x 5 ½”, scored at 4 ¼” )
- Night of Navy mats (x2): 13cm x 8.5cm (5″ x 3 1/4″)
- Countryside Inn DSP (2 contrasting pieces): 12.5cm x 8.5cm (5″ x 3 1/4″)
- Basic White scraps for sentiments
- Patchwork Pieces dies
Cut out your two contrasting pieces of DSP (or DSP and cardstock) using your chosen die.
Stick each die cut piece in turn onto the Night of Navy layer, alternating the two contrasting colours as shown below:
For these symmetrical die cuts, I left a small gap between the top and bottom sets of DSP as you can see:
I used my favourite Go to Greetings stamp set to stamp sentiments onto 10.5cm strips of Basic White then added these across the card using dimensionals. (For the wavy card in the video, I used scraps of Basic White for the sentiments,)
You can see the products I used below. What do you think? Do you like these cards? Let me know in the comments.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post.
Don’t forget – you get a FREE tutorial of 10 cards when you place an order with me. There’s a different set every month. And, if your order is over £30, you will also get to choose stuff from my online shop to the value of your order!
