This week for our Christmas Countdown I’m showing you a simple technique which produces two different colours from one ink pad. I still need plenty of Christmas cards, so this card uses the gorgeous Leaves of Holly stamp set and the coordinating Holly Berry dies together with the beautiful Boughs of Holly DSP.
I used:
- Cherry Cobbler card base 29.7cm (length of A4 cardstock) x 10.5cm, scored at 14.8cm
- Boughs of Holly DSP 14.3cm x 10cm
- Very Vanilla 14.1 x 9.8cm
- Very Vanilla scraps for stamping
- Distressed gold specialty paper for the fronds
- Gold and Vanilla satin edged ribbon
Instructions
Wrap a length of the ribbon around the DSP piece, sticking down at the ends and in the middle as shown in the video. Slide a shorter piece through at one end and tie a knot, trim, and use glue dots to hold the ends down if required. Stick the DSP to your card front.
The two-colour stamping technique can be used with any stamp. I used it for the holly leaves and the berry cluster for this card.
Stamp the smaller outline holly leaf twice in Shaded Spruce onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. Using the matching fill-in holly leaf stamp, ink it up, then stamp once onto scrap paper before stamping it carefully, without re-inking, lining it up on top of the outline image already stamped – watch the video for details.
Repeat this process with the holly berry outline stamp, then the in-fill berry stamp, in Cherry Cobbler ink. Stamp your chosen sentiment in Cherry Cobbler onto a scrap of Very Vanilla.
Die cut the leaves and berries using the Holly Berry dies (or fussy cut). Use the two frond dies to cut several sprigs from the distressed gold paper. Die cut the sentiment and a layer of Cherry Cobbler using the stitched rectangle dies (or cut rectangles using a trimmer).
Assemble the card as shown in the video.
It is easy to make several copies of this card at once by stamping plenty of holly leaves and berries in one go.
