Another month, another Build & Bloom Stampers blog hop. This month’s theme is Celebration. I’ve continued with a Christmas theme using the gorgeous Traditions of Christmas DSP. This is a simple card using two coordinating pieces of DSP with ribbon and gem embellishments. The trick is putting the ribbon around the DSP – read on for how!
There is very little stamping and no die-cutting, so it is a quick card to make – this is important when making lots of cards for Christmas!

The Traditions of Christmas suite is packed with goodies. The Merry Christmas greeting I used is from a retired stamp set from four years ago. I love the images from the beautiful Traditions of Christmas specialty DSP, and I adore the Cherry Cobbler and Gold ribbon. I finished the card with some now retired Cherry Cobbler and Pearl gems, but you could use any suitable gems.
To make my Celebration card you will need:
- Cherry Cobbler card base 10.5cm x 29.6cm scored at 14.8cm (11” x 4¼” scored at 5½”)
- Traditions of Christmas DSP pattern 1 for the top of the card 14.3cm x 6.5cm (5¼” x 2¾”)
- Traditions of Christmas DSP pattern 2 for the bottom of the card 14.3cm x 4cm (4” x 1½”)
- Cherry Cobbler and gold (or coordinating colour) ribbon approx 18cm (7″) plus extra for bow
- Basic White insert 13.8cm x 9.5cm (5″ x 3¾”)
- Scrap of Basic White for sentiment
- Cherry Cobbler ink pad

Instructions
Score and burnish the card base. I find cutting the A4 sheet lengthways is best for landscape cards to allow easy display.
Add a thin strip of tear & tape to the back of the bottom of the top piece of DSP.
Place the two pieces of DSP together with the top piece overlapping the bottom piece by 0.5cm (¼”) and stick together being careful to make sure they lie straight – the total short side should measure 10cm (4″). I used my glass mat to help me with this.
Now add two pieces of tear & tape to the back of this piece where the join is at each end. Add some tape to the front of the card over the join, too. Adhere the ribbon across the join.
Now stick the completed panel to the card front.
Make a small ribbon bow and add it using a glue dot.
Stamp your sentiment in matching ink. Trim into a banner and add across the bottom DSP panel using dimensionals. Add a few gems where you want to complete the card – I covered the berries on the DSP for this one.

Stamp a greeting on the inside Basic White panel in co-ordinating ink. Add some decoration if you wish – I used a retired poinsettia stamp.
Don’t forget to decorate your envelope! I used the same poinsettia stamp on my envelope.
