Christmas is coming! Welcome to my 2023 Christmas Countdown, twelve weeks of festive crafting inspiration. For week one, I show you how to make a gatefold card, a simple fun fold which can be used for many occasions, not just Christmas.
I used the gorgeous Joy of Noel stamp set and dies and the coordinating Joy of Christmas DSP. You can see how I made the card in the video below, and I also give you the measurements and instructions later in this post.
Here’s what you need:
- Base colour cardstock 29.6cm x 10.5cm (length of A4 cut in half) (I used Cherry Cobbler and Shaded Spruce)
- Colour cardstock 7cm x 7cm
- Joy of Christmas DSP 7cm x 10cm (2 pieces)
- Basic White 6.5cm x 6.5cm
- Basic White inside 13.8cm x 9.5cm
- Scraps of Basic White and colour cardstock for stamping and die cutting
Score your base cardstock on the long side at 7.4cm from each end. Fold carefully and burnish. Stick your pieces of DSP to each front flap.
Stamp your sentiment and chosen image to the inside Basic White piece and colour as desired. I used my Stampin Write markers directly on the stamp – see the video for details – then coloured the image with Stampin Blends. Stick the completed piece to the inside of your card.
Stamp the Noel in your chosen colour onto a scrap piece of Basic White and die cut out. Add to the centre panel using dimensionals.
Stick the completed panel onto the square of colour cardstock then stick this panel carefully to the front of the card only adding glue to the reverse of the left hand side. And your card is complete!
Don’t forget to decorate your envelope. I stamped a coloured image on the front and added a piece of DSP to the back flap. See the video for how to do this.
Either die cut pieces or stamp images as a background on your small piece of Basic White – remember it will be stuck on as a diamond, not square!
This card can be made using any Christmas stamp set or for any occasion using any other stamp set. And using different colours! It is very versatile. I hope you have a go – let me see what you make.
I’ll be back soon with more Christmas Crafty makes.
