This is the third card in my mini-series making Easter cards based around a cross. It uses the masking technique to create the image.

In this video (the 80th on my YouTube channel @craftycarolscards!) I show you how to use a cross template and the masking technique to produce a lovely card which is easy to send by post as there is very little depth to it.

You will need:

  • Basic White base card 21cm x 14.8cm
  • Basic White panel 14.3cm x 10cm
  • Blessings of Home stamp set (or any other large image)
  • Cross template 9cm x 6cm
  • Stampin blends in a range of colours
  • Scraps of card for the sentiment

Score your base card on the long side at 10.5cm and fold.

Cut or die-cut a cross template blank (see a previous post to find ideas on how to make this). Use temporary adhesive (I get mine from Amazon) to stick this to the centre of your basic White panel.

Ink your large image stamp with Memento black ink. I used the largest image in the Blessings of Home stamp set, but any large image will do. Stamp over your stuck template – I stamped it once to the right of my cross and once on the left, The important bit is to make sure the image covers your template cross. In the video you’ll see I had to add another tiny but of stamping to cover a gap.

Colour your image as desired. I used a range of Stampin Blends combo packs including Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo and Pool Party and I used two different green combo packs for the leaves, Granny Apple Green and Old Olive.

Once you have coloured all round your image, carefully lift off the cross using your finger or an eraser to remove any remaining temporary adhesive.

To finish the card, use a ruler to carefully outline your cross image in Gray Granite.

Stamp your sentiment on a scrap of Basic White and punch out using the Double Oval punch. Punch a scalloped oval in Daffodil Delight card. Stick together and place on your card using dimensionals

Don’t forget to decorate your envelope!

I hope you try and enjoy this technique. It’s easier than it looks at first.
