I love two-step stamps, where you use one stamp for an outline image and then another for the infill. But they can be difficult to line up properly, especially with bigger stamps or those with “appendages” that can float around and not lie straight.

In the video below I show you my special tip for how to line up two-step stamps easily and correctly each time. My line-up technique is shown from 7:25 to 9:20 if you just want to watch that bit!

I used the gorgeous Petal Park stamp set from Stampin Up’s January to April catalogue to make this card. It comes as a bundle with a matching flower punch. The cane weave embossing folder I also used is part of the same suite. Browse the catalogues through the buttons at the side of the page if you want to know more.

To make this card you need:

  • Basic White base card 21cm x 14.8cm scored at 10.5cm
  • Basic White outer layer 9.5cm x 13.8cm
  • Basic White stamping layer 7.5cm x 10cm pus scraps for flowers
  • Gorgeous Grape cardstock outer layer 10cm x 14.3cm
  • Gorgeous Grape inner layer 8cm x 10.5cm

Emboss the middle-size piece of basic White with the Cane Weave embossing folder.

Using the two matching two-step stamps, stamp the outline leaves stamp in Memento ink onto your smallest Basic White piece. Line up the matching infill stamp as shown in the video and stamp in Soft Succulent. Add extra dots randomly around this image in Soft Succulent.

Stamp the outline flower group in Memento on a scrap of basic White, infill using Highland Heather and use the matching Patel Park Builder punch to cut them out.

Assemble as shown in the video and picture above. I used liquid glue as I plan to post this card, but you could use dimensionals if you wanted. Add a few gems to decorate if desired.

Let me know how you get on with two-step stamping using this technique!
