Ok, It’s time! I need to start making my Christmas cards, so here is a quick and easy one. There are some gorgeous sets, bundles and suites this year and my favourite is the Season of Green and Gold suite with its gorgeous DSP.

The whole suite includes two bundles (stamp sets and dies), Graceful Greenery vellum sheets (which are fabulous), a gargeous Very Vanilla satin ribbon, a pack of red and white berry gems and the stunning Season of Green and Gold speciality DSP. All these items are also available separately. I’ve also used the Christmas Labels stamp set and dies for the sentiment.

This quick and easy card allows the fabulous Season of Green and Gold speciality DSP to be the star. Add a sentiment jazzed up with a die cut and your quick and easy card is ready to go.

You can see how I made the card in the video below. In it, I give you a tip about how to use gold foil efficiently and minimise waste by cutting the sentiment frame from the middle of the gold foil layer. There’s also a useful tip on how to make sure the sentiment strip is the right size to go on top. (Hint – use a pencil! See the video for details.)

To make this card you need:

  • Basic White base 29.6cm x 10.5cm scored at 14.8cm (11” x 4¼”scored at 5½”)
  • Gold foil layer 10cm x 14.3cm (4” x 5¼”)
  • Green and Gold DSP layer 9.5cm x 13.8cm (3¾” x 5”)
  • Scrap of basic White for the sentiment

Here’s the video or, if you prefer, instructions are given below.

Season of Green and Gold card

Fold and burnish the card base.

Choose your preferred stamp and matching frame die and die cut from the centre of the gold foil layer.

Use the die to mark the area for stamping the sentiment on a scrap of Basic White. See the video for details.

Stick the gold layer to the front of the base card.

Add the DSP layer on top.

Rub the Basic White scrap with an embossing buddy then stamp the sentiment in Versamark. Add gold embossing powder then set using your heat gun.

Trim the completed sentiment and stick to the centre of the frame. Add to your card using dimensionals.

I finished the inside of the card with a pine bough stamped in Garden Green and a suitable sentiment. I stamped the same bough on the envelope.

This card lends itself to making a whole batch easily. They could be the same or all be slightly different. Your choice!

I hope you like this card and will have a go at making one – please show me what you come up with.
