For this week’s Craftalong I wanted to design stylish cards that could be used for a multitude of occasions using the Thoughtful Expressions bundle and the gorgeous Everyday Detail dies. I’ve also used the beautiful gold embossed Nature’s Sweetness DSP, part of the Nature’s Sweetness suite from the January to April mini catalogue.
Very Vanilla is the base for my cards. I’ve used the Pebbled Path and gold embossed sheet of DSP and matched that with stamped and gold embossed images. It’s really difficult to get good pictures of the cards in this dull, dark winter we’re having, but hopefully you can see the beautiful gold embossing everywhere! I had to have all my lights on so that the ladies on my Zoom Craftalong could see the cards properly….
Anyway, if you would like to make the card or cards you need:
- Very Vanilla cardstock base 21cm x 14.8cm, scored in half at 10.5cm (8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″)
- Nature’s Sweetness DSP 10.1cm x 14.4cm (4″ x 5 1/4″) – cut with the pattern as portrait for the bird card and landscape for the flower card
- Pebbled Path cardstock 6cm x 9.9cm (2 3/8″ x 3 7/8″) – for the bird card
- Pebbled Path 11.1cm x 7.2cm (2 7/8″ x 4 3/8″) – for the flower card
- Gold foil 11.3cm x 7.4cm (4 1/2″ x 3″) – for the flower card
- Scrap of Very Vanilla and Pebbled Path cardstock for embossing
You can follow the instructions below or watch the video for how to make the cards:
Fold the Very Vanilla cad base in half and burnish. Use as portrait for the bird card and landscape for the flower card.
Use your embossing buddy on one or two Very Vanilla cardstock scraps. Stamp the Thoughtful Expressions bird and /or flower cluster onto these scraps using Versamark ink. Cover in gold embossing powder, tap away any excess then heat set using your heat tool.
Embossing buddy two or three scraps of Pebbled Path cardstock. Take the small Thoughtful Expressions flower stamp, stamp it in Versamark then emboss using gold embossing powder. Stamp your chosen sentiment(s) in Versamark and emboss with gold embossing powder. Punch or trim the sentiment(s) to the required size.
Take the largest rectangular Everyday Details die and cut out a frame in the DSP piece. Keep the inner cuts to use on your bird card and on another project.
To make up the bird card:
– Stick the Pebbled Path piece carefully to the reverse side of your die cut DSP frame. Then stick the whole piece to your card front.
– Add your embossed bird and flower as shown in the picture using dimensionals.
– Use mini dimensionals to stick on your embossed sentiment piece.
To make up the flower card:
– Stick the die cut DSP frame to your base card.
– Add the gold foil layer on top – this will cover the die-cut holes.
– Adhere the Pebbled Path layer on top of that – there will be a tiny gold border all round.
– Using glue only in the main part, stick the DSP centrally to these prepared frames.
– Add your embossed flower to the centre using dimensionals. Use mini dimensionals to stick on your embossed sentiment piece.
Decorate the inside of your card as you wish. I stamped the bird head in Wild Wheat inside the bird card and stamped the small flower inside the flower card.
Don’t forget to decorate your envelope as well!
