How to make a floating diamond fun fold card

Here is my first Christmas card using products from the new mini Stampin Up! Catalogue (September to December 2023). It’s a diamond fun fold card. I’ve used the Stars at Night bundle, which comprises a stamp set, dies and embossing folder, together with the totally gorgeous speciality Shining Brightly paper.

I saw a diamond fun fold card made using this fold by someone else (sorry can’t remember who) but it was a 5” x 7” card. So I decided to adapt it to our normal C6 size. In the video, I show you my first attempt at this card, which was OK but not great. I think the card I made in the video is far better. What do you think?

Here’s the video – the instructions are below:

You will need:

• Night of Navy card base 21cm x 14.8cm
• Shining Brightly DSP 10cm x 14.3cm
• Shining Brightly DSP 4.5cm x 14.3cm
• Very vanilla 9.5cm x 13.8cm
• Very Vanilla x 2: 5cm x 5cm
• Very Vanilla x 1: 6cm x 6cm
• Night of Navy x 2: 4.5cm x 4.5cm
• Night of Navy x1: 5.5cm x 5.5cm
• Night of Navy mechanism piece 9cm x approx 2.5cm

1. Score your card base st 5.25cm and 10.5cm
2. Score the mechanism piece at 4.5cm then at 2.2cm from each end
3. Fold both as shown on the video.
4. Stick the DSP to the front and back panels of the card base.
5. Emboss the Night of Navy diamonds with the Stars at Night hybrid embossing folder.
6. Stick the Night of Navy diamonds to their corresponding Very Vanilla diamonds.
7. Die cut a star from Gold glimmer paper to fit in the large diamond. Stick it to the centre of the larger diamond
8. Stick the left-hand sides of the two smaller diamonds to the front panel lined up with the fold.
9. Stick the mechanism end panels to the centre of the card, with its central fold lined up with the card centre fold.
10. Add the large diamond to the left-hand part of the mechanism. You may need to trim off a tiny corner from the left-hand edge of this diamond to make sure it does not overlap the card edge when it is closed  – see the picture on the right and the video for details.
11. Stamp your Very Vanilla greeting panel and add to the back of the card
12. Add star trinkets as desired.

Don’t forget to decorate your envelope!
