Do you have a stash of DSP? I do, and I love to find ways to use it! It is easy to make simple but effective cards using your DSP, just by cutting it in different ways. These cards can be made for any occasion and are a great way to use up some of your DSP stash.
In my Live today, I showed three ways to make some easy cards using DSP. You can view the video below to see the cards I made and there are brief descriptions too.
I used the Turtel-y Cute DSP for my cards, but they can be adapted for any DSP you might have. Did you know that the colours used in each set of DSP are written on the back of each pack? This makes it easy to choose a coloured cardstock base to match your DSP.
All the cards use the normal card bases: portrait is 21cm x 14.8cm scored at 10.5cm (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) and landscape is 10.5cm x 29.6cm scored at 14.8cm (11” x 4¼” scored at 5½”).
The first easy cards use strips of DSP. They are a good way to use up your DSP scraps, too, because you can use different strips, or use several cut from the same piece – your choice. You can place the strips either longways or across-wise on either. a portrait or landscape base – have a play!
To make the landscape card (or portrait card with horizontal strips, you need a piece of DSP 10cm x 12cm (4″ x 4 ¾”). Cut on the longer side into 3cm strips. Stick these to your card base leaving a small gap between each and again add a sentiment plus additional embellishments as you wish.

For a portrait card with vertical strips, cut the DSP to 14.3cm x 8cm (5¼” x 3″) then cut it on the short side into four 2cm (¾”) strips. Or use four different strips 14.3cm x 2cm (5¼” x ¾”).
Adhere the strips to the card front leaving a small gap between each as shown. Add a sentiment of your choice ( I used sentiments from So Sincere and Linked Togther stamp sets, currently Last Chance products) and a few gems or ribbon bow as you wish to complete the card.
Finally, I made two really quick and easy cards using a piece of patterned DSP the same size as the card front 14.8cm x 10.5cm (4¼” x 5½”). Cut the DSP piece diagonally across the middle of the long side – you don’t need to measure – then dtick each piece to a card front.
Add a strip of coordinating coloured cardstock across the “join” of the DSP and your card base, stamp a sentiment and add a few gems and voila – two quick and easy cards from one piece of DSP.
