This is an easy-to-make, fun fold card that looks complex.  It is easy once you have the measurements, but these cards will wow any recipient. It is a Dutch barn card, where the front bottom half of the card opens and reveals the greeting panel inside, hidden from view by the image panel.

I’ve made mine for Easter, using the Blessed Beginnings stamp set/bundle, but it can be made for any occasion by changing the image, DSP and sentiment used.

To make this card you need:

  • Pecan Pie card base 21cm x 14.8cm scored at 10.5cm (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”)
  • DSP (I used Easter Joy) 10cm x 14.3cm (4” x 5¼”)
  • DSP for front panel 10cm x 7cm (4″ x 2½”)
  • Basic Beige layer 6.8cm x 10cm (2½”x 4″)
  • Basic White panel for inside 6.8cm x 10cm (2½”x 4″)
  • Basic White panel for front 6.4cm x 9.5cm (2¼” x 3¾”)
  • Scraps of Basic White and Basic Beige for the sentiment
  • Medium size sticky notes
  • Cork rounds embellishments
  • Sponge daubers
  • Pecan Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Balmy Blue ink pads plus Grey Flannel or Black Memento
  • Smoky Slate, Old Olive and Daffodil Delight Stampin blends

Here are the card pieces you need:

Turn your cardstock so the the front side edge is at the top of your trimmer. Cut at 7.5cm (2¾”) down to the score line. Use the line on your trimmer blade to make the cut as accurate as possible.

Turn so the top of the card is at the top of the trimmer and cut down the score line to meet your first cut. Remove this panel – this is the panel that will form the front of your Dutch barn card.

Adhere the panels of DSP to the inside and front of your card.

Adhere the Basic Beige panel to your Pecan Pie cut off panel.

Stamp a greeting in Pecan Pie on the Basic White inside panel. Add further decorative stamping as you wish and colour if necessary. Stick inside the card so it is central between the sides and slightly nearer the top than the bottom. See the video if you are unsure.

Stamp your greeting in Pecan Pie onto the Basic White scrap. Trim if necessary then layer onto a scrap of Basic Beige.

Stamp the church in Grey Flannel Memento (or Black if you do not have the grey) to the right hand side of your basic White front panel. Stamp it again on a sticky note and cut out carefully to the outline to form a mask. Add the mask on top of the stamped church.

Now stamp the tree in Old Olive so it sits to the right of the church. The mask prevents ink going where you don’t want it!

Stamp the cross in Daffodil Delight on top of the church.

Using your sponge daubers, daub Old Olive around the base of the tree and to the right hand side of the church.

Daub Pecan Pie across the base/front of the church.

Die-cut or fussy-cut a couple of clouds. Use Balmy Blue to daub the sky around the cloud cut outs. Remove your mask.

Use your Stampin Blends to colour the tree (Old Olive and Pecan Pie), and the church (Smoky Slate, Daffodil Delight and Pecan Pie).

Stick your completed panel to the other layers.

Turn the front piece over and lay it where you will stick it on the front of the card. Mark the sides with a biro so you know where to put glue.

Add glue to the lower part then stick to the front panel.

Add the sentiment piece below, using dimensionals at the bottom of this piece and a line of glue at the top.

Finish the card by adding some cork dots to the back area of your card.

Don’t forget to decorate your envelope!
