December blog hop: Black and White

The final month of this year, and a final Build & Bloom Stampers blog hop. This month’s theme is Black and White. It is still early in the month so I have stayed with a Christmas theme. Although I have used some old retired products for this card, you could use new products instead. I’ve suggested some below.

It is another quick card to make given how close we are to Christmas!

I ‘ve used an old stamp set, Winter Woods, and retired DSP, Winter Woodland, but you could use a current tree stamp set, such as Ornamental Christmas or Pine Tree Trimmings and the Modern Christmas DSP – or stamp your own black and white strip.

To make my Black and White card you will need:

• Basic White card base 10.5cm x 29.6cm scored at 14.8cm (11” x 4¼” scored at 5½”)
• Basic Black 6cm x 14.8cm (2½” x 5½”)
• Black and white DSP 5.5cm x 14.8cm (2¼” x 5½”) – or stamp your own strip
• Basic White scrap for stamping and die-cutting the tree
• Irridescent pearl gems or white pearlised enamel effects
• Memento ink

Instructions

Score and burnish the card base. I find cutting the A4 sheet lengthways is best for landscape cards to allow easy display.

Adhere the DSP strip to the Basic Black strip and stick to your card front, leaving enough room to stamp your chosen sentiment below.

Stamp the tree in Memento and die-cut. Add pearl “baubles” randomly over the tree.

Stick to the card front as shown using dimensionals.

Stamp your chosen sentiment on Memento ink on the bottom right of the card front.

Add some black gems or sequins to decorate.

For the inside of the card, I stamped the small branch from the Winter Woods set twice without re-inking (stamping off) in each corner in Memento ink.

Add a sentiment of your choice. I used one from the Brightest Glow stamp set.

Don’t forget to decorate your envelope! I used the same branch stamp on my envelope.
