I love the Changing Leaves bundle with the gorgeous stamps, dies and hybrid embossing folder. We made two cards using this bundle in my in-person class this week. This is one of them (you can see the other in my LIVE next Tuesday 24th Sept at 2pm on YouTube and/or my Facebook page). I also used some of the gorgeous gold mercury vellum.
I’ve used Basic Beige cardstock and Crumb Cake ink, a marriage made in heaven! Some gold accents finish this Changing Leaves thank you card. I also describe two useful techniques to try. The first is how to line up the Changing Leaves leaf stamps so you can cut all three out in one go, the second technique is partial die-cutting to fit a die around the sentiment. Read on or watch the video below!
To make this card you will need:
- Basic Beige cardstock base 21cm x 14.8cm scored in half at 10,.5cm (8½” x 5½”scored at 4¼”)
- Gold Mercury Vellum layer 9.5cm x 13.8cm (3¾” x 5”)
- Basic Beige cardstock piece 14cm x 12cm (5½” x4½”)
- Gold foil for die cutting approx 7cm x 5cm (3″ x 2″)
- Very Vanilla cardstock scrap for sentiment
- Very Vanilla ribbon
I wanted to stamp all three leaves and die-cut them together – but the die is one die. Tevhnique idea one: I found a good way to line the Changing Leaves stamps up was to lie each stamp face down onto the embossing folder against its respective pattern, then press the large stamping block over them to pick them up – see the video if this is not clear.
Stamp the leaves in crumb cake onto the Basic Beige cardstock piece then use the die to cut them out.
Die cut the pair of outline lacy leaves and the sprig from gold foil.
Add the gold mercury vellum piece to the card base front using glue dots. Placing these behind the gold splurges means they will not show through.
Arrange the three stamped leaves and the gold foil pieces on the card as you wish, sone pointing downards and some upwards as shown. Curl the leaves using a bone folder then add glue to the central part of the die cut only and stick to the card front.
Tie a bow in Very Vanilla ribbon and add to the centre of the card over the leaf stems.
Stamp Thank you in Crumb Cake onto the Very Vanilla scrap.
Technique idea two: Partial die-cutting. This is a great technique for using dies that are not the right size for what you want. Use the long sentiment die to cut out by placing the die over the first part of the sentiment but only running it through the machine part way, to cover the words, not all the way through. Turn and replace the die over the second part of the sentiment. You will find the die will “slot” into the holes previously cut. Die-cut the second end. See the video if you are not sure about this.
Add the completed die-cut sentient to your Changing leaves thank you card just under the ribbon using dimensionals.
I used the large leaf stamp and Crumb Cake to stamp inside my card and also to decorate the envelope.
