As a change from birthday cards, I made a male anniversary card as requested by one of my ladies. This one uses some retired specialty DSP (Symbols of Fortune) layered on gold foil with an embossed sentiment, but you can use any specialty or “ordinary” DSP, of an appropriate pattern and colour(s) for the recipient, that you have in your stash.

It is a simple anniversary card, making the most of this gorgeous DSP, but if you don’t have anything similar, use any patterned DSP that you wish and use the layout of the card as a guide. Make the card landscape, add a DSP layer then use a band across, either stamped and/or embossed with a Sweetly Scripted sentiment as I have done, or use a DSP band as a contrast and add a sentiment on top.

You will need:

  • Basic White card base: 10.5cm x 29.6cm scored at 14.8cm (11” x 4¼” scored at 5½”)
  • Gold foil layer: 14.7cm x 10.2cm (4 1/8” x 5¼”)
  • Specialty DSP layer: 14.2cm x 9.8cm (4″ x 5″)
  • Gold foil sentiment layer: 14.7cm x 2cm (4 1/8″ x ¾”)
  • Basic White sentiment strip: 14.2cm x 1.5cm (4″ x ½”)
  • Approx 30cm Gold twine
  • Scraps of gold foil for heart decorations for inside the card and for the envelope
  • Versamark, Gold embossing powder and heat gun

Fold and burnish the card base. Adhere the gold foil layer to the front of the card, then the specialty DSP piece on top.

Glue the gold foil strip across the bottom of the anniversary card front, around 1/3 of the way up the card. Add a small piece of tear & tape towards the left-hand side. Wind the twine into a figure-of-eight shape and stick it down on the tape.

Rub the strip of Basic White with your embossing buddy then stamp the sentiment in Versamark. Add gold embossing powder and set it with your heat gun. Add to the anniversary card using dimensionals.

I completed the inside of the anniversary card by embossing a sentiment from So Sincere and adding two small hearts, punched (or die-cut) from gold foil. I used two more to decorate the envelope.

I hope you like this card and will have a go at making one – please show me what you come up with.
