This is the first video of three different Easter cards this week. This technique produces three floating panels which allow a view of the back of the card underneath. I’m pleased with the results but prefer the card I make in the video to the one I made previously.
To make the card:
- Basic White A4 sheet cut lengthways at 10.5cm (29.6cm x 10.5cm)
- A cross (approx 9cm x 6cm)
- Scraps of Basic White or coloured card for stamping and punching the flowers
- Gems to decorate
- Blending brushes or foam pads
- Daffodil Delight and Garden Green ink pods
Prepare the card base: Score the base card on the long side at 14.8cm and fold in half.
On one end cut off three strips each of 1.5cm and 3 strips of 1cm (of which you will need to keep one).
Use your blending brushes to create the colour backgrounds. Use Daffodil Delight to colour the background for the top of the cross on the outside of the half side you have left and colour the inside back of the card using Garden Green. (I used Old Olive on my first card.) Colour the three 1.5cm strips in green as well.
To form the card, stick the end of your remaining 1cm strip to the outside top of your card so that the end is level with the bottom of the card. Stick your 1.5cm strips to that, leaving 1cm between each strip as per the diagram.

The cross needs to be 9cm x 6cm. I used one large and two smaller crosses on my first card but just the one large one on my second card. To make a cross, there are a few options:
- you can cut one yourself from a piece of 9cm x 6cm cardstock with the “arms” 1.5-2cm wide and deep and the same height from the top. I’ve given some suggested measurements for both sizes of cross in the photo above
- You can use embossed cardstock or coloured cardstock – a brown cardstock embossed with the timber embossing folder might look good
- You can use rectangle dies to cut two pieces and form a cross that way
Add your large cross to your card using dimensionals. If using the two smaller crosses, use liquid glue to add these.
Stamp your sentiment (I used the one from Daffodil Daydream) on a scrap of Basic White then punch out using the double oval punch. Punch out a scalloped oval in Daffodil delight for the background. Stick to the cross as shown.
Use the triple flower stamp from the Petal Park stamp set to stamp some flowers in different colours then punch out using the coordinating punch and use as decorations. Be careful only to use glue where the flowers will stick to the strips! Add some gems as shown.
This card would also make a sympathy card, or a birthday card for a person of faith. And don’t forget to decorate your envelope.
